Retratos: Portraits of My Latino Community
We live in parallel time paths, sharing moments in the eternal. A photographer accepts a certain responsibility to document the environment, the culture, the people and family that occur in the hours we have together. This collection is but a small slice of work that spans my lifetime. These are the people that make San Antonio unique, each person, each personality, and each expression taken in a flash of time. Some of them are very close, with years of conversations, experiences and emotions together. Others are known to me as leaders of my community, as profound influences. One of them was just a chance encounter on the street – I have had his image for years, yet I don’t even know his name. Presented humbly, with great respect for the footprints they make, these are portraits of my Latino community, Mi Retratos.
All the images were printed using archival pigment ink prints on premium matte paper processed to achieve consistent sepia tone and image quality from diverse sources, including high resolution scans of original negatives and direct-to-digital exposures. very nice show Al. Well done.
while his photos were good, I gather he is stuck in a low point in his life, to just bring a show to the public in just sephis tones, was kind of, well sad. the frames were well done, but not put together wel enough for a show presentation. some of the frames were just, just looked tacky with their corners off. i know he could have done better than he presented himself to be here at St P’s. He said he has always used digital equipment, but when he first started in this business, well they did not have digital cameras when he first started off in this business.
